The Dark in Light

So cold is the moonlit night
So misleading is its light
Taught to think that light is warm
So we glare at it with scorn
But still it looms; Silent, strong
The Cold holds true through nights so long

Author's Comments

This has been forming in the back of my mind for a couple of weeks. I guess it was born of and nighttime bike trip down the road next to my house.

I came out from the shadows cast on the road by the tree into the moonlight, and was struck at the lack of a temprature jump. I gazed into its face and came to the conclusion that some people don't like the night and the moon because it is the sun's polar oppisite. And yet others, like myself, love it for this same reason.

I've been told that I have the attention span of a rock. That's funny because rocks don't have attention spans. So that probably means that I don't have one either.

So be brave when all else fails to succeed.
When the lights go out and the battle is not done,
Take a deep breath, be strong, and take heed,
For a brave hero lies in everyone.

Thanks you! It was hard to write, though; It took like, a week to get it right.

It's a real cool poem, but the scorn thing doesn't quite fit to me.
